OpenClinica

OpenClinica is very widely used around the world in clinical trials data capture and management. It consists of a series of web-based forms for data entry (these are tailored specifically for each individual project or study) and a fully-audited database that stores the information securely.

It has been chosen by the NBRCIT for use in the Rare Disease Bioresource for several reasons:

  1. It is web-based, so people can easily enter data if they have an account and access to a computer connected to the internet
  2. Users can quickly design and build forms for capturing data with the only minimal training required (you do not need to know computer programming)
  3. It is secure and trusted – it is a fully audited system where changes that are made to the data are logged in detail
  4. It has an active user and developer community

If you would like to know more about OpenClinica, there are training materials available on this site.
